Discussion: Unpacking Self-Worth
Details
Welcome to this week’s women’s circle! Tonight, we’ll focus on connection and self-discovery. We’ll begin with a fun icebreaker to set the tone and get to know one another better. From there, we’ll explore the evening’s topic, 'Unpacking Self-Worth,' through open discussion, sharing our thoughts, and reflecting on personal experiences. This gathering is a space to connect, grow, and be inspired by one another’s journeys. We’ll close with a moment to set intentions, leaving with fresh perspectives and a sense of support. Let’s dive in and make this time meaningful together!
Below is the "Mindful Musing" for the week which includes our Main Topic and some questions for us to explore together!
Self-worth is like an old suitcase that we carry around, but instead of clothes and shoes, it’s filled with judgments, experiences, and sometimes, even the voices of others. We often find ourselves measuring our value based on external things—how we look, how much we accomplish, how others perceive us. But here’s the truth: your worth isn’t determined by these fleeting factors. It’s intrinsic. It exists whether you’re wearing your best outfit or your comfiest sweatpants, whether you’ve checked off every item on your to-do list or none at all. The tricky part is untangling all the external noise and learning to measure yourself by something deeper. Recognizing your self-worth is an ongoing journey, one that often requires us to unpack and unlearn the old stories we’ve told ourselves. But imagine how freeing it would be to carry that suitcase around empty—light, full of possibility, and only filled with the things that truly matter.
Questions to Discuss:
- How do you measure your self-worth on a daily basis?
- What’s one external factor (like appearance or achievements) that you’ve let define your self-worth in the past?
- When was the last time you felt truly worthy just as you are?
- How does self-compassion fit into how you view your self-worth?
- Do you think society encourages us to tie our worth to external factors? Why?
- How do you separate your self-worth from your productivity?
- Have you ever felt pressured to meet others’ expectations to feel worthy?
- What are some practices or thoughts that help you remind yourself of your intrinsic worth?
- Can you think of a time when you realized your worth was independent of a situation or achievement?
- What’s one way you can affirm your self-worth today, no matter what else is going on?
