What we’re about

Description:
Tai Chi and Qigong are two ancient Chinese practices that can bring more balance and well-being into your life. Tai Chi, once used as an ancient martial art, has evolved into a popular mind-body practice. This exercise provides many health benefits that are attributed to the slowness of movement, mental concentration, attention to posture and breathing. Movements are graceful, fluid, rhythmic and relaxed.

Qigong—a powerful yet gentle exercise focuses on cultivating and balancing your body's energy, known as "Qi." Qigong involves simple, flowing movements, combined with deep breathing and meditation, to help you relax, reduce stress, and boost your overall health. It’s easy to learn and suitable for all ages and fitness levels, making it a perfect starting point for anyone interested in improving their wellness.

Class Format:

  1. Light Stretching (10 minutes):
    • We begin each session with gentle stretching exercises to warm up the body, loosen joints, and prepare the muscles for movement. This helps prevent injury and promotes flexibility.
  2. Standing Meditation (5 minutes):
    • Following the stretching, we transition into standing meditation (Zhan Zhuang), a practice that cultivates stillness, grounding, and inner awareness. This meditation helps you connect with your breath, align your posture, and quiet the mind.
  3. Ji Jing Jin Qigong (20 minutes):
    • We then move into Ji Jing Jin Qigong, a dynamic series of movements designed to strengthen tendons, enhance flexibility, and promote the smooth flow of Qi throughout the body. These exercises help build internal strength and improve overall vitality.
  4. Wudang Tai Chi (20 minutes):
    • After cultivating our energy and focus, we will begin the first set of movements of Wudang Style Tai Chi. It starts with the initial stance, in preparation for the slow, continuous movements that follow. The initial principals in the beginning postures are designed to help you to improve balance, strength, and flexibility.
  5. Closing and Relaxation (5 minutes):
    • We conclude the class with a brief period of relaxation to integrate the energy cultivated during practice. This helps to ground the experience and leaves you feeling centered and rejuvenated.

Our sessions are designed to be gentle, mindful, and deeply nourishing, providing a comprehensive approach to enhancing your physical health, mental clarity, and spiritual well-being.
