What we’re about

The Tallahassee Chan Center, located in Tallahassee, FL at 1310 N Paul Russell Road, is the most active center within the Dharma Drum Chan lineage and in the West in general for English speakers. It offers group meditation, workshops, retreats, and regular lectures.

TCC is a practice place for a diverse population of people, visitors, and students guided by Guo Gu who follows in Master Sheng Yen’s style of warm heart and clear mind. Our group consists of a community of helpful, resourceful, and gentle people. All are welcome!

- Who should join the group?
All are welcome with an interest in Buddhism, Community Building, Meditation, or Cultivation of Virtuous Qualities.

- Do we have any dues or fees?
No, though you may donate for an event if you wish.

- What is our group's affiliation?
We represent and operate out of the the non-profit organization, the Tallahassee Chan Center. The purpose of the Tallahassee Chan Center (TCC) is to introduce and embody the wisdom and compassion of the Buddha as expressed in the lineages of Linji and Caodong Chan. These two lineages are united under the Dharma Drum Chan Lineage as founded by Master Sheng Yen (1930-2009).

- Do we have volunteering opportunities?
Yes! As a non-profit organization, we run entirely from volunteers, and even welcome Bright Futures Students to complete high school volunteering hours at our meditation center. We need help with keeping up the meditation healing garden, cleaning the Chan Meditation Hall and Bathrooms, lawn-mowing, leafblowing, web help, and more.
