Members of Tallahassee Social 40+ will join theFriends, Fun & Food, and the Adventurers Around Florida meetup groups for their annual Christmas party and white elephant gift swap..

Please do not join on more than one group. if you've already signed up in Friends, Fun, and Food, please do not sign up here.

"Bow" will be central to the theme for this year's festivities.

Who? Members of Friends, Fun & Food, Tallahassee Social 40+, and Adventurers Around Florida meetup groups are invited to attend.

What? The season won't be bow-ring this year as we hold a "Wear The Biggest Bow" contest, followed by the renowned White Elephant Gift Exchange, followed by time spent with friends as we figure out who complains the most about relatives visiting during the holiday.

When? Saturday, December 14, 2024, from 6 pm until the elves slide down the rainbow.

Where? Glory Days, 1926 Capital Circle NE, Tallahassee, FL 32308 in the private Legends room.

Why? Because we will all be feeling just bow-dutiful after spending time with friends and plunking money down on food and holiday cheer.

Join us as we enjoy the Ninth Annual James Bond III White Elephant Gift Exchange and the "Wear The Biggest Bow" Contest. But wait, what, what the heck IS a "Wear The Biggest Bow" Contest?

1. Go to the nearest outlet mall, Costco, flea market, or archery store and buy the largest Christmas bow you can find and wear. This step is critical because whoever wears to the party the biggest bow, by popular acclaim, WINS a major advantage over all other revelers by buying the FINAL STEAL at the White Elephant Exchange.

2. Procure a "gift" of the highest virtue that COSTS NO MORE THAN $15 and doesn't offend too many people. It should be a SINGLE gift, please (i.e. no "multiple item" gifts).

3. Wrap up that gift in the super fancy wrapping paper you found under the cat box.

4. Bring the gift to Glory Days. Put it in the designated "place for gifts". Drink your Holiday margarita.

5. Get your numbered nametag and wear it so that everyone can read your name. Order another margarita and make random remarks about how lame the bow puns above are.

6. We vote for a winner of the "Wear The Biggest Bow" Contest, who becomes Contestant #1 -- an advantageous number to have.

7. Contestant #1 picks a gift and unwraps it. Everyone takes another shot.

8. The next Contestant picks out any unwrapped gift, then decides to either steal any previously opened gift, or keep his selection.

9. If a gift was stolen, the robbed Contestant takes over and gets to unwrap a new gift (no additional steal allowed). Hopefully, the thief will offer to buy a consolation margarita, just to be nice.

10. For subsequent rounds, the next Contestant does the same - either choose to steal any prior Contestant's gift, or unwrap a new one off the pile

11. After all the Contestants in order have had a chance to steal or unwrap a gift and everyone has something in-hand besides his or her beard, Contestant #1 - winner of the "Wear The Biggest Bow" Contest, has the special privilege of making one final gift exchange with anyone else, no matter what.

12. A gift stolen twice becomes "safe" except with regard to Contestant #1
