What we’re about
Queer Tango in Bristol.
Queer Tango is the passion, tradition and joy of the Argentine Tango with the traditional gender roles removed. The Argentine Tango is a passionate and intimate dance as tango is a language established between two bodies that flow with sensuality. It is great fun and a great social experience.
It is an open and inclusive space for anyone who wants to dance either role regardless of gender and orientation, simply put anyone can lead and anyone can follow.
This is a group for anyone who wants to join with like minded people from the LGBTQIA+ communities and anyone else who wishes to dance the Tango without the implicit gender roles and conventions.
We are running regular weekly beginners/improves lessons with a once a month absolute beginners lesson and as the community builds will be expanding to include regular social dances.
For social updates and conversation it is best to follow our facebook group - https://www.facebook.com/groups/TangoQueerBristol but messages here will also be responded to.

The Beechwood Club is situated in Fishponds on Beechwood road behind the Old Post Office. There is a free car park next door to the club and Fishponds is well served by the numbers 17, 48 (and 48A), 49 (and X49) and 5 buses. Additionally the Bristol/Bath cycle path runs just behind the location. There is also an e-scooter parking zone at the end of beechwood road a minutes walk from the club.
Tango requires a halfway house between a slippy and a grippy shoe sole. Rubber soled trainers won't work and you will hurt yourself!
The simplest solution if you do not have dance shoes is to pull an old pair or socks over the outside of a relatively smooth soled shoe - This works very well and I always have pairs of socks on hand for people to use for this purpose.
Alternatively you can dance without shoes and just wear socks.
