What weāre about
The Tarot for Creatives Meetup hosts events for tarot readers who range from absolute beginner to professional. Unless otherwise specified, our meetups are simply gatherings in which readers meet and read tarot for one another. āØ New Members! I am so excited to share tarot with you š¤ whether you just bought your first deck or have been reading professionally for years āØ
I credit my own ability to read to a friend who also read and wanted someone she could exchange free readings with. If I hemmed and hawed sheād say āwhoās giving the reading?! Am I reading for myself?! What does your intuition say??ā Her insistence on getting that reading pushed me to trust myself and of course the reading I got from her in return taught me by example. My goal with this meetup is to provide just such an opportunity for others š
We aim to provide activities that work for readers at any level so that everyone can jump in and participateāØ
With this aim in mindāwe ask that everyone show up to meetups with an open mind! I personally believe that just about anything can be asked of the tarotāprepare to be surprised by a new approach (both silly and serious) or bring your own ideas to share š¹
Having any hesitations? Please share any questions or concerns here so we can get that cleared up š

kimAbout your event leader: Kimberly Essex is an artist, poet, professional tarot reader, and meditation teacher who began the Tarot for Creatives Meetup as an offering to her new community when she first moved from NYC to Philadelphia in 2018. The group met monthly in Center City until it was moved online at the beginning of 2020. While the membership is still primarily based in Philadelphia, being online has allowed others to join from anywhere in the world. Being online has also made it possible to offer a wider variety of events including reading, writing from, and meditating with the Tarot. All events are beginner-friendly--no tarot, writing, or meditation experience is needed. If you have a tarot deck, you are welcome to join in.

- Tarot for Creatives Writing Workshop (Zoom)Link visible for attendees
What to expect?
This will be a super casual writing workshop and is best for anyone who just wants to get writing and/or would like to deepen their relationship to the tarot through writing. And of course it will be an opportunity to connect with other tarot readers and writers.
The basic format for our Writing Workshops?
Given a tarot card, and an optional additional writing prompt, we will free-write for ten minutes and then share what we wrote. And then we will repeat this until we are out of time.
What type of writing will we be doing?
That's totally up to you. Free writing can be a simple stream of conscious block of writing, or it could turn out to be a poem, a journal entry, flash fiction or any other short form genre of writing you could think of. The key is to just write whatever comes to you without stopping.
Do I have to share my writing?
Participation is mandatory at all of our events, so, yes, you will need to share something from each ten minute writing period though you don't need to share every word of what you wrote if you don't want to. We can even explore "creative reading" together if that is of interest to the people who attend.
Do I need a tarot deck?
Yes, please have at least one tarot deck on hand. It will be much easier to read from a tarot card in front of you than from a tarot card held up on screen.
Hope to see you there! ā„ļø
