This is a route we've done before but not for some time. The longest and most challenging hill is near the start of the route, but it's hilly throughout so please bear that in mind. It's a long walk so we aren't climbing up to Wills Neck but we will need to walk at a steady pace because of reduced daylight in December.
Meet in the car park adjacent to Hawkridge Reservoir. What3words locator: mascots.angle.shrugging. Through woods up to the hamlet of Aisholt (crossing one ford). Climbing a steep path (crossing another ford) before turning off between Middle Hill and Aisholt Common and on to Triscombe Stone. Down through Great Wood to the Street Bean Coffee Company Cafe (formerly the Foxy Bean) at Adscombe. Circle back through Great Wood (hilly) and retrace our steps for a short distance back to Hawkridge Reservoir.
If we want to stop at the Street Bean Cafe for coffee we can walk the route anti-clockwise. Decide on the day.
Walking boots essential because it will be muddy and the fords may be full at that time of year. Walking poles if you use them will be helpful. Bring snacks and a packed lunch. Well behaved dogs welcome. Will need to be on leads at times.
