What we’re about
This group is for women, any age, single, divorced or married, in the Tavistock or Plymouth area to meet up at weekends for coffee, meals, walks, cinema or trips into Plymouth (or further afield) to restaurants/bars etc - depending on the kind of things we’d like to do. It’s fine to do lots of things on your own, but it would sometimes be great to share it with others, and of course, sitting on your own in a restaurant, bar or even cinema is not for the faint-hearted!
Don’t worry if you are a ‘first-timer’ - we have all done this not so long ago and remember how it feels to walk into a place when you don’t know anybody, but you will definitely receive a warm welcome and I can always meet you beforehand so you don’t need to walk in anywhere on your own.
To help me with recognising and greeting new members, it would be good if you could make sure you have a profile picture on the site – HOWEVER, if this is a safety issue for anybody, then just give me a quick description before you come!
The aim of the group is to make real friends and get to know people properly, so I do ask you to come to roughly at least one thing a month.
As you may well know, each Meetup group is run by an organiser (me, in this case!) who pays a subscription fee every year, which is now £200. I have recently (and reluctantly) introduced a fee of £1 per event to try to cover some of this amount. Please give this to whoever is organising the event you come to - either me or Alison who is my co-organiser. Thanks.
So, lastly, could I just explain that there is often a waiting list for limited number events, but it's always worth putting your name down in case someone can’t make it. If you are down for one of these limited number events, please make sure you give me plenty of notice and take your name off in plenty of time if you can’t make it.
That's it - the basics: we hope to welcome you soon to our friendly and inclusive group.
Boring Bit:
HEALTH AND SAFETY:
You are responsible for your own health and safety when attending events. Event organisers are hosting social events, walks, workshops etc for friends and do not hold any qualifications or liability insurance. It is a condition of joining and participating in events that you understand this and agree that the event host is not liable for your safety, and that you will not hold them liable for your safety.
