Play your carbon right: making smart choices for a greener digital future
Details
How big is technology’s ecological footprint? Does it create more CO2 having a ChatGPT conversation or boiling a kettle? How about streaming an episode of Love Island or driving your car to the shops?
Come along to Reed’s latest Tech on the Tyne meetup and find out more about the true cost of digital services and how the technology sector can make changes to reduce its impact and help create a greener planet.
During this free face-to-face meetup, Adam Coles, Head of Sustainable Services at technology consultancy firm, Opencast, will be delving into how to make the services you offer as sustainable and green as possible through design, architecture and software delivery.
As a Tech on the Tyne event – in partnership with Dynamo North East – this meetup has been designed to familiarise you with the latest tech, and network with like-minded professionals in the region.

What is Tech on the Tyne?
Tech on the Tyne is a free software development meetup run by Reed’s technology division for those who are looking to get ‘hands on’ with the latest technologies.
The introduction to new tech is provided by the some of the best developers in the area. Each event is language agnostic, so you can interact with the tech however you develop, we offer a fair and open opportunity for those of all skill sets to experience something new, brush up your knowledge, or even discover a new approach from fellow learners.
This isn't designed to be a super serious, heads down event. The flow is loose, and collaboration is encouraged. Refreshments and pizzas are provided.
