Enjoy this 3.6-mile out-and-back trail near Lancing, Tennessee. Generally considered a moderately challenging route, it takes an average of 1 h 46 min to complete. This is a very popular area for hiking, running, and walking, so you'll likely encounter other people while exploring. The trail is open year-round and is beautiful to visit anytime. Dogs are welcome but must be on a leash. Bring plenty of drinking Water, and energy food and good footwear.
There is a second parking area located 300 yards beyond the primary parking area. This path meanders through the forest and leads to some stunning rock formations at the end. Although this path does not directly lead to the river, there is a small spur trail at the beginning that offers beautiful views of the water and adds.
Recent reviews for the Obed River Point Trail in Lancing, Tennessee, highlight warm and dry conditions with limited water in creeks, making it a good time for hiking. The trail features beautiful views, especially from side trails, and offers good parking options. Reviewers suggest exploring off-shoot trails for better vistas and rock formations. Typically, September sees pleasant weather, though hikers should be prepared for drier conditions and potential foliage.
If you’re a kayak fanatic there are rivers on both sides of the trail, on the left is my favorite Clear Creek. Recent reviews for the Obed River Point Trail in Lancing, Tennessee, highlight warm and dry conditions with limited water in creeks, making it a good time for hiking. When it rains, these rivers are dangerous. And a hoot. The trail features beautiful views, especially from side trails, and offers good parking options. The left site of the trail is the Obed River. Both rivers will take your breath away and both are world class whitewater. We’ll hike down to the confluence where the rivers double in volume especially in the rainy months.
If you’re into night hiking, you’re come to the right place. Really cool night hike. Do not recommend it if you don't know what you're doing. Seeing the edges of the cliffs when it's a gaping black void instead of a massive fall is something else. A little scary. The sky is also not a crazy clear as they advertise. All the promotional photos show the Milky Way, but the best I saw were some constellations and a couple Starlin satellites. Still, better than you get in the away from the city by far light pollution is at a minimum.
To meet us go to Lansing, turn left at Rock Bridge Road. Eventually, you’ll go down into a valley and cross Lilly Bridge, that’s Clear Creek under it. The water is very low this time of year. Keep going up the hill and you’ll see a Ranger Marker, there’s plenty of parking. Look for my old Green Jeep with a Smiley Face as a spare tire cover. I’ll show you all the ooohs, and aww, on our trip. I’ll bring my repelling gear if you want to give it a try. Bing plenty of water, and energy snacks. After the hike we’ll go across the bridge to the Lilly Pad Microbrewery and have some warm food, cool drinks, a bond fire and make some live music. They have a building you can watch your favorite football teams and drink some beer and cheer on your team. Just a note of interest, Del the owner rode his 10-speed bike from East Knoxville to the Keys. He hooked up with a diving expedition and found a fortune and created the Lilly Pad. Talk about luck.
