Halloween Camping & Paddling at Caddo Lake State Park-RESERVE YOUR SITE NOW

Details

Caddo Lake is the largest (or the only depending on who you talk to) natural lake in Texas. It is also the largest bald cypress forest in the world and the most beautiful wilderness area I've been to in Texas. This is flat water paddling paradise folks! It is filled with Spanish moss covered cypress trees that can be up to 600 years old and the perfect destination for a spooky Halloween campout. There are boat rentals at the park and from private vendors and usually members with extra boats to loan.
I have reserved site 065 in the Mill Pond Camping loop at Caddo Lake State Park for Thursday through Sunday. These sites are water only, tent only and have access to the Mill Pond. There are other sites with screened shelters and RV hookups nearby. If you are interested, reserve your site NOW. This Park will be totally booked in weeks.
Saturday morning we will do a group paddle on several of the amazing paddle trails. We put in at Backwater Jacks (a 15 minute drive) that is near the trails ($5 launch fee). Bring a sack lunch, we will have a group picnic on the water.
This is a kid friendly event. Friendly non-barking dogs are welcome. People decorate their campsites,, we have contests for best decorated campsite, best kid costume, best adult costume. After our Saturday night potluck dinner kids go from tent to tent trick or treating and then a communal campfire and ghost stories.
