What we’re about
Hey, welcome to the Crewvy!
My name's Max and pretty often I catch new movies. If I'm viewin' them with a crew of friends, the event might extend through a food append to a chew-and-review blend.
What I wish to offer as I kick this off proper:
- A focus on emerging movies. This meetup leader's eager to see just-released features in theaters.
- Variety of genre, consistency in acclaim. It's hectically eclectic the way I select it, but ever checked with expert perspectives. I solicit picks from the flick-addicted, unremitting in committing the critically-hitting.
- Casual, accessible atmosphere. To this end:
- No sweat if you gotta cancel, whenever. Max knows how the grind goes. Max knows how anxiety woes grow to no-show's.
- Cinephiles and been-a-while's alike are welcome.
- Vibes preside: we're winnin' if we're grinnin'. Movie madness is simply a catalyst.
- Decency is demanded. Any less, I can't stand it. I will not accept any intolerance, bullying, or similar disrespect.
Thanks for your consideration! I hope that, when you're in a new-movie mood, you consider a view with tha crew.

If time is too tight for us to successfully convene before showtime, no sweat! We can regroup just after the movie. Its runtime is 160 minutes (2h 40m) so it'll end around 3 PM.
If afterwards we'd like to discuss and chat, we can head to a casual restaurant nearby. I'm open to anything, and haven't eaten in this area, but here are a couple options that appealed to me, to start:
- New Zaiqa, an Indian restaurant
- Tecalitlan Mexican Kitchen & Margarita Bar

Directed by Payal Kapadia, this work won the Grand Prix at Cannes this year, which is the runner-up to Anora's Palme d'Ora. Here's a description of the movie excerpted from the film center's page:
"Following her celebrated feature debut, A NIGHT OF KNOWING NOTHING, which the Chicago Tribune’s Michael Phillips proclaimed as his favorite film of 2021, Payal Kapadia’s sophomore effort is a vivid and heartfelt exploration of the sights, sounds, and stories of working-class Mumbai. Winner of the Grand Prize at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, ALL WE IMAGINE AS LIGHT follows two women—the older, married Prabha and the younger, hopeful Anu—as they experience turning points in their personal and romantic lives. A lyrical and exquisite story of sisterhood, ALL WE IMAGINE AS LIGHT is equal parts delicate and courageous, a celebration of a film that solidifies Kapadia as a filmmaker confidently redefining contemporary South Asian cinema. Film Center exclusive."
