Join Us on Our MoMA Photo Shoot (Sat, November 16, 2024) - Robert Frank Exhibit

Come join us for an exciting morning of photography and art as we visit the Museum of Modern Art. This is a great opportunity to practice your people and street skills (photojournalistic approach) in the museum.

The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), located in Midtown Manhattan, is one of the world's leading institutions dedicated to contemporary and modern art. Founded in 1929, MoMA is home to an extensive collection of artwork ranging from painting, sculpture, and photography to film, design, and performance art.

The latest photography exhibit features artist Robert Frank "Life Dances on: Robert Frank in Dialogue"--the artist's first solo exhibition at MoMA.

Members of the group are welcome to explore the numerous and exceptional galleries and exhibitions throughout the museum. Tip: Use the following map.

PHOTO OPPORTUNITIES
There will be a myriad of photo opportunities in and around MoMA, but the one point to remember is to try not to take pictures of someone else's art directly. Instead, try different angles and perspectives. Be more creative and take photos of the visitors in the museum as they are contemplating the artwork or just walking around. Experiment, put your creative hat on and extend your vision. Look closely and shoot the architectural details inside/outside of MoMA. Think outside the box!

Parking/Transportation
Because parking is a nightmare in the city, it is highly recommended that you take public transportation to the museum. See Directions & Parking.

Tickets include admission to all galleries and special exhibitions.

Meeting Location/Event Hosts
We’ll meet just inside the doorway at the 53rd street main entrance to the museum near Sixth Ave. Your event hosts are Doug and Gail. Please try to meet by 10:15 AM. We will be wearing our TAOP stickers and holding our cameras.

Post-Event
For those of you who would like to join us after the event, at approximately 12:30, we will meet at Terrace 5 which features outdoor seating under a covered terrace. Terrace 5 located is across from the Painting and Sculpture Gallery.

PHOTO CHALLENGE
After this meetup event ends, we will create an album on the Photos Page. Please post up to five (5) of your best photographs from the event before 7 PM (ET) on Thursday, November 21st.

Eligible photos:

• Must be taken on Saturday, November 16th, 2024 in and around MoMA
• Must be posted before the deadline
• Must have a title
• Must NOT be sexually explicit or suggestive

This album will be reviewed. The winning image will become the permanent album cover of the event. The name of the winning photographer will appear in the album title.
