Join Us on Our Guggenheim Museum Photo Shoot (Sat, Jan 25, 2024)

Let's get together first to discuss this photo shoot and then have a truly great time exploring the beautiful photo ops in and around the museum.

The Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum is an art museum located at 1071 Fifth Ave between 88th and 89th streets. Frank Lloyd Wright designed the museum which is considered the most important building of Wright's late career. The unique architecture of the space with its spiraling ramp and curves offers many photo opportunities both inside and out.

PHOTO OPPORTUNITIES

Guggenheim:

• Wright combined his use of geometric shapes and nature, to create a gallery space that presented art along a flowing, winding spiral, much like a nautilus shell, with little in the way of walls to separate artists, ideas or time periods. Best experienced as Wright intended by taking the elevator to the top of the museum and following the gentle slope down, the art is revealed at different angles along the descent and across the open circular rotunda.

Meeting Location/Event Hosts
We’ll meet just inside the doorway at the 5th Ave entrance to the museum. Your hosts will be Doug and Arnold. We will be the ones wearing the TAOP NYC stickers! Please try to arrive around 10:45 am to say hello and discuss the shoot.

Parking/Transportation
Because parking is a nightmare in the city, it is highly recommended that you take public transportation to the museum.

Subway: Travel on the 4, 5, 6, and Q subway lines.
Bus: Take the M1, M2, M3, or M4 bus lines on Madison or Fifth Avenue.

Tickets include admission to all galleries and special exhibitions.
We recommend reserving timed tickets online in advance before your visit. Tickets: Adults $30, Seniors $19, Students $19, Members free.

Post-Event
For those of you who would like to join us after the event, at approximately 1:00 pm, we will meet at Café Rebay located on the third floor. Please bring cash since many restaurants will not allow separate checks.

PHOTO CHALLENGE
Once this Meetup event ends, we will create an album on the Photos page. Please post up to five (5) of your best photographs from the event before 7 PM (ET) on Thursday, January 30.

Eligible photos:

• Must be taken on Saturday, January 25th, 2024 in the Guggenheim and surrounding area
• Must be posted before the deadline
• Must have a title
• Must NOT be sexually explicit or suggestive

This album will be reviewed. The winning image will become the permanent album cover of the event. The name of the winning photographer will appear in the album title.
