The Magical Mystery Girls came together in 2017 as a one-time "supergroup" of female performers to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the release of The Beatles' revolutionary Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band album. After 6 months of rehearsals, the band made its debut in June 2017 by playing a full set of early Beatles songs followed by the Sgt. Pepper album and a few other songs from 1967. The response was so overwhelming that they decided to keep the band together and to continue adding songs from the Beatles catalog. After several standing-room only shows to a loyal and growing following, the
Magical Mystery Girls are now a sought-after act at festivals, concert venues, and clubs throughout the mid-Atlantic and beyond. Beatles fans are especially drawn to the band's attention to detail, overseen by two super-fans within the group. In addition to local venues such as the Lurman Woodland Theater, Jammin’ Java, and the Bethesda Blues and Jazz Club, The Magical Mystery Girls have performed at several Beatles events, including the New York Metro Fest for Beatles Fans, and at events with Beatles historian and author Dr. Kenneth Womack and “Deconstructing the Beatles” founder/Musicologist Scott Freiman at the Cutting Room in New York City where they performed the entire Beatles Get Back Rooftop concert. They have also performed the entire Abbey Road album with absolutely no samples or pre-recorded tracks.
The Magical Mystery Girls perform as both a 6-piece band and as a 4-piece band. The 6-piece version of the band includes keyboards and woodwinds, and their set list features many songs that The Beatles never performed live. The 4-piece version of the band (called The Magical Mystery Four) focuses more on The Beatles’ guitar-oriented material, mostly from their early catalog.
