Talking is Thinking: The Art of Journalling and Appreciative Enquiry
As the year draws to a close, it’s natural to reflect on your year: How far you’ve come and where you are going.
“The unexamined life is not worth living” said Socrates, and this drive has compelled psychoanalysts and philosophers to contemplate life and its meaning for millennia.
Journalling turns your personal call - to excavate meaning and uncover patterns in your living - into a habitual practice.
A writing practice may reveal to you continuities in your life, allow a place to vent and offload, uncover dissonance between competing values and behaviours, pose and seed thoughtful contemplation and/or help you to direct your intentions for the grand arc of your life with more precision.
In our small group discussion we will share any experience we currently have with this practice, or contemplate finding a new place for written reflection in our life. Perhaps you’ll be inspired with new resolve to journal in support of your personal development and growth in 2025.
Having a framework to ground your journalling practice gives you a solid place to start and seeds something to build and compound on.
Powerful questions can create all kinds of shifts in our perception and the stories we are telling ourselves. The host will share the private East Nashville location with you on confirmation of your place at the event.

The Power of Intention: Vision-Casting Your Reality
Dreams are fuzzy and don’t tell us what steps to take – there’s a disconnect. Visions, on the other hand, allow us to imagine the ‘possible’ and interrupt patterns of negativity; as we ‘cast a vision’ for a new and valid possibility.
In this session, we’ll share a dream that we feel compelled to cast a vision for. Using life-coaching and positive psychology tools we’ll cast a vision for an area of your life, and then go about putting some concrete steps and a supportive mindset to that vision – and as always, we’ll experiment with a playful and creative exercise to lock in your learnings and get in touch with your intuition and unconscious wisdom.
“Remember that no one owes your dream anything, by measure of ensuring that you succeed. That is entirely up to you.” Bidemi Mark-Mordi

- Freedom Fences: The Gift of Clear BoundariesHistoric Edgefield, Nashville, TN
Freedom Fences: The Gift of Clear Boundaries
Boundaries are like invisible fences that define the limits of the personal space around us, both emotionally and physically. They are the set of rules and guidelines we establish for ourselves to determine how we interact with and respond to the world.
“When we fail to set boundaries and hold people accountable, we feel used and mistreated. This is why we sometimes attack who they are, which is far more hurtful than addressing a behaviour or a choice.” Brene Brown, The Gifts of Imperfection.
Brene Brown on Boundaries“Those who get angry when you set a boundary, are the ones you need to set a boundary for.” J.S. Wolfe, The Pathology of Innocence.
To hold clear, healthy and life-giving boundaries we must first understand our needs, and further, be able to communicate and enforce our requests effectively and with kindness.
In this 2-hour group coaching session we will investigate our own boundaries and needs in more depth. The group discussion will be guided by ICF ACC accredited life coach, Sally Ann Eddmenson.
We’ll use visualisation and creative exercises to support a healthful approach to maintaining our boundaries in the future. Participants will come away with a fresh understanding of the benefits of boundaries for healthy relationships, and a revived commitment to/and strategies for upholding them successfully.
Please feel free to invite guests; however due to seat limits, and to encourage reliability, kindly have your guests RSVP for the event directly.

- The Neuroscience of Gratitude: Not Another Toxic Positivity TalkHistoric Edgefield, Nashville, TN
The Neuroscience of Gratitude: Not Another Toxic Positivity Talk
The experience of gratitude enhances positive emotions in us. While we can be more or less wired to feel gratitude as a personality trait, we also have passing feelings of gratitude, alongside a dissipated ‘mood’ of gratitude (or lack of it) in our lives.
The ‘practice’ of gratitude suggests we mindfully incorporate studied and science backed practices to habituate more gratitude into our daily lives.
What might be the benefits of mindfully incorporating a gratitude practice into our lives?
Consider the evidence for physiological benefits of gratitude in your personal experience?
What other supportive and life affirming behaviours might a lens of gratitude compound in you?
What would be the social implications of showing up as a person with a strong gratitude practice?Together we’ll discuss our experience of gratitude in action on our mood, our habits and on our relationships.
But there’s an important pitfall to avoid.
On the other side of gratitude, toxic positivity is the pressure to only display positive emotions, and suppress our negative emotions, feelings, reactions, or experiences. It invalidates human experience and can lead to trauma, isolation, and unhealthy coping mechanisms.Misunderstood, a gratitude practice could err us towards not recognising and honouring our negative emotions, which can contain important and instructive information for us. We’ll discuss the pitfalls of toxic positivity and consider the nuance within our emotional landscape, so we can avoid suppressing our negative emotions in pursuit of only the positive.
Please feel free to invite guests; however due to seat limits, and to encourage reliability, kindly have your guests RSVP for the event directly.
