The Creative Writing Cafe: FILM CLUB @GATOpictures - 6pm - 8pm Wednesdays

Wednesday DECEMBER 4th, 6 - 8 pm. Welcome to The Writing Cafe's Filmmakers Club Meetup. We are an amateur (meaning lover of film) film club. All ACTORS, SCREENWRITERS, and FILMMAKERS interested in no-budget filmmaking for fun, for community, for practice, for learning - professionals, beginners and wannabes welcomed.

GOALS: 1. Have fun. 2. Meet, talk about movies, screenplays, plan to shoot scripted shorts. 3. Plan and shoot a short "improvised" film in 1 hour. 4. Edit. 5. Post to YouTube. 6. Have fun.

Cinematic influences include: Dogme 95, Agnes Varda, Robert Altman, Chantal Ackerman, Mike Leigh, Greta Gerwig, Jim Jarmusch, Kelly Reichardt, Christopher Guest, Elaine May, Sean Baker, etcetera.

*To shoot shorts (so far) we use a Nikon D3200, a Rode Mic, a 50 mm lens, and we edit on IMovie.

The Creative Writing Cafe's "Filmmakers Club" is FREE but any purchase to help support the Sleeping Cat Bakery is appreciated, so come join us and participate, write short screenplays, or chat about acting and movies.

Latecomers welcome, come and go as you please.

WEDNESDAY DECEMBER 4th

6 pm—7 pm: Intros, talk about movies, plan to shoot scripted short films.
7 pm—8 pm: Shoot a short “improvised” film (we’ve shot 8 shorts so far).
