What we’re about
Calling all Glaswegian nerds and geeks!
We're looking to hold a monthly get together in Glasgow for like-minded individuals who enjoy all things geeky - Sci-fi, Doctor Who, Star Trek (and Wars!), Harry Potter, Marvel, DC, anime, cosplay, comics, board games etc.
The idea is to meet up, have a drink or two, get to know each other and make some new friends in and around the city.
Follow us on the Fediverse/Mastodon at https://glasgow.social/tags/geeksocial (Don't know what that is? It's open source decentralised social media - no corporations involved! Sign up at https://glasgow.social - or any other site - it's all interconnected - like the internet should be!)
We also have a Matrix chat room at #geek:glasgow.social (you can join with this invite link: https://glasgow.social/matrix).

See all- Neurodiversity Q&A meetupThe Gamer Club, Glasgow
Are you a neurodivergent person or do you wonder if you might be?
Do you have questions about Autism or ADHD or experience challenges that you want to discuss with other neurodivergent people? This event is organised by Naomi and Lauren.
Naomi is a speech and language therapist who has worked with neurodiverse children and teenagers for 14 years. In her current post Naomi’s work involves neurodevelopmental assessments and offering support within a mental health team. Naomi has always had an interest in neurodiversity and has a diagnosis of dyslexia and potentially ADHD.
Lauren discovered that she is autistic as an adult. After struggling to find easily accessible information about strategies that could help her she founded www.colourmeautistic.com; a website with practical advice and helpful strategies for adults in all areas of life.
This session will start with a short structured discussion between Naomi and Lauren at the start followed by a Q&A session (questions can be submitted beforehand here, and on the day verbally or via a QR code) with a chance to mingle and chat in the venue at the end for those that want to do so.
It's an unlicenced venue so feel free to bring along some beers or a bottle of wine - or if you prefer, there is free tea and coffee at the venue.
There are directions available here: https://www.thegamerclub.co.uk/gettinghere
You can find photos of the venue on the website gallery here: https://www.thegamerclub.co.uk/gallery (there is also more detailed venue information on the wiki at https://wiki.thegamerclub.co.uk)
There is a chat room on our Glasgow Matrix network where you can submit questions and get to know each other before and after the event. Invite link: https://glasgow.social/matrix (join the #neurodiversity room)
There is no cost to the event and it is open to all (over 18s).
Is the venue wheelchair accessible? Unfortunately not. There are steep (and uneven) stairs down from ground level at the main entrance, however we are happy to provide any assistance wherever possible.

- Bad move night: Neil BreenThe Gamer Club, Glasgow
"If you have never heard the name Neil Breen, allow me to explain. Have you ever watched a movie so bad it was good? Well, Neil is the epitome of this film archetype. He writes, directs, and acts as the main character in every film, adding to their charm. With five feature films under his belt, Neil shows no signs of stopping. While many of his films have overlapping themes (so many in fact, that you can play Breengo instead of Bingo) each one makes it unique and hysterical."
Come enjoy some content by Neil Breen that resembles a movie.
- Pass Thru - A messianic entity from the future travels to modern-day earth to wipe out 300,000,000 "bad people" and usher in a new era of peace.
- Twisted Pair - Identical twin brothers become hybrid A.I. (artificial intelligence), entities, yet are torn in different directions to achieve justice for humanity.
- Double Down - The controversial story of a lone genius who closes down the Las Vegas Strip... The government can't stop him. As he reunites with his dead girlfriend each night.
We'll vote on a film on the night and have a chance to catch up before/after with a few drinks.
The movie will start around 7:30pm but join us from 7pm for a glass of wine or cup of tea and lets chat about B-movies and classic cult favourites.
There will be time afterwards to stay and discuss the movie if you'd like.
As always, remember to check out our chat room on Matrix at #movies:glasgow.social (invite link: https://glasgow.social/matrix)
The event is completely free, and open to all. There are some drinks/snacks provided (there is a donation tin) and you are welcome to bring your own snacks and drinks (alcoholic drinks are fine too!).
The venue is on Bath Lane, just opposite the Buff Club, check out this link for details: https://www.thegamerclub.co.uk/gettinghere
- Board Game Evening!Curlers Rest Glasgow, Glasgow
Hi!
Liam is away so I'm going to be running a Board game evening at Curlers rest!
I will bring along a selection of Liam's games, if you have any you would like to see, put them in the comments. You can see what games Liam owns by clicking here
Feel free to bring along your own games, the more the merrier!
You don't need to know how to play any of the games in advance, I'm happy to teach anyone how to play them (if I know them, I know most of Liam's games but not all of them!). I'd ask that you be willing to teach any of the games you bring along.
Hope to see you there!
Steven
