This is a class for people to improve their Guitar skills, we will focus on playing tunes, improvising, expanding our chord knowledge and working on various techniques. I have lots of experience as a studio musician from Bollywood to Hollywood and want to share my knowledge. This is a class for people who already have some knowledge of chords and have tried a bit of lead playing. We always have a variety of levels in every class and nobody is expecting you to be an expert!
The Guitar Club has been running in Canterbury for 2 years and is really popular. We started with one hour a week and now our members can choose 4 out of 10 hours a week which is great for trying different things.
We also go beyond the weekly classes. We have a Guitar Club Band and we provide opportunities for our members to play live with a drummer and bass player. We also run studio sessions so our members can experience recording in a working studio. We also organise socials where we usually have an all day jam with a backing band.

In this class we will have a look at the Major Scale and it's Modes, understand how scales are constructed and how to apply them. As we progress we will venture into arpeggios, chords and various guitar techniques to add flavour to our solos. We will take a song and use it as a platform to try out some of the ideas in the class. This will not be a boring lecture, we will all be playing guitar throughout the session. If you want to come and sit in to get a feel for it that is fine too.
Don't forget to bring your guitars! If you are playing electric don't forget to bring a small amp.

Don't worry so much about your level as a simple song can be made more complicated and complicated songs can be simplified so that everyone of all levels can play together and learn from each other.
You will learn techniques to make it easier to remember songs, understand how to play with a group, and have the opportunity to apply lessons from other courses in different musical situations.
Playing with others is widely considered the most effective way to learn music. It gives you valuable chances to practice your rhythm, improve your knowledge of chords, expand your repertoire, and have the freedom to improvise. - Modes & ArpeggiosTofts Cafe Bar, Folkestone
