WORKSHOP TIE-DYE: Immersion & Transformation

Details

WORKSHOP TIE-DYE: Immersion & Transformation
Tie-dye, known as *shibori* in Japan, is a traditional technique of resist dyeing. First, fabric is tied, folded or sewn with tools like thread, clamps, or presses, and then it is immersed in a natural plant-based dye bath that will create a one-of-a-kind pattern.

In this hands-on workshop, you'll explore various techniques for crafting graphic shapes, using a combination of provided materials and your own creativity. Our dyes are made from carefully selected natural plant pigments. Throughout the session, you'll embrace patience and the unexpected in a process of transformation, feeling the therapeutic powers of this ancient practice.

FACILITATOR
Séverine Morizet, a French graphic designer based in Porto since 2017, will guide you through this experience. In 2010, she was trained in natural dyes by Sandrine Rozier, a costume and textile designer for the performing arts, followed by the study of *shibori* in 2013 with Hiroyuki Murase, a fifth-generation member of a Japanese artisan family renowned for their mastery of this tie-dyeing technique.
