Hike At Big Creek
Details
About The Trail: Big Creek offers tons of hiking and biking trails. Though the paved trails now go from Old Alabama Road all the way up to Sawnee Mountain, we'll stay on the dirt trails, starting at the Old Alabama Road parking lot and including little-known dirt hiking trails that go behind the shopping centers along North Point Parkway.
We’ll do about eight miles of the easy walking trails, mostly among lots of trees. Scenic highlights include a mountain bike pump track, a mountain bike race course with downhill zig-zags and jumps, and an until-recently hidden trail that travels behind the old AMC Mansell and Dick’s Sporting Goods.
Notes:
Distance = Eight miles
Time: Budget 2 1/2 hours to 3 hours
Skill Rating = very easy
Pace = 2 to 2 ½ miles per hour
Special Equipment = None needed
Other Stuff = No dogs, but children that can keep the posted pace are encouraged to attend!
Directions/Meeting Spot: From exit 7a (Holcomb Bridge) on GA 400, head east (right). Turn left at second light (Old Alabama Road). Drive about 300 yards and look for a trailhead parking lot on your left as you come down the hill. Drive through this first parking lot (you'll see lots of mountain bikes) to the large parking lot about 1/4 mile away. We'll meet in front of the building with the rest rooms.
See you there!
Charlie
