HK Natural History Society Hike: Pui O to Mui Wo

MEETING TIME:
Central Ferry Pier No. 6 at 12:50 pm (to catch the 1:10pm ferry which is busy and if full may leave early, so come in good time please!). From Mui Wo we catch a bus to Pui O (Lo Wai Tsuen). If you prefer, you can meet the group at the bus stop at Pui O at 2:15 pm.
We disperse by bus or ferry from Mui Wo. There is an option to stay for a relaxed Chinese dinner in Mui Wo after the hike.
TRANSPORT: Public ferry and bus.

DESCRIPTION:
The walk is around 8kms on concrete paths and fairly
well- made tracks, mostly contoured, but with some inclines. It will take about 3 hours of walking and once started there are no easy exit options except to complete the walk.
We will walk from Pui O across the neck of Chi Ma Wan peninsula to Shap Long San Tsuen and then to Mui Wo by the coastal route. There is a good chance to see feral cattle, flowers, butterflies and attractive coastal scenery along the route.
Overall rating: Easy/Moderate.
BRING:
Plenty of water [at least 1.5 litres recommended]
Snacks – there are no shops between Pui O and Mui Wo.
Hat, sunglasses, and sun protection cream or
Rain-proof wear or an umbrella
Good comfortable walking shoes
Basic first aid items – just in case
Change/ Octopus
