What we’re about
Make a measurable 1% national difference for the animals by putting in 20 minutes a month with THL!
You may have noticed that in the past few years, cage-free eggs have started to become significantly more prevalent in stores. THL started campaigning in 2015, and since then cage-free eggs have gone from about 5% to about 30% today. That’s over 100 million hens per year that will not spend their lives confined to cages, about 1/3 of the US population.
But how? A few hundred THL volunteers have emailed, phoned and used social media to obtain commitments from US companies to migrate to cage free eggs. All it takes to be an “active volunteer” is to take 2 digital actions in the past 3 months. So would you say maybe 60 minutes over 3 months of work on average, or 20 minutes per month?
In a given month, the total number of active THL volunteers is in the 100-200 range, or 4 people per state on average. At that size, anyone who constantly shows up will make about a 1% difference nationally, or about 25% per state on average.
This is Seattle Chapter of The Humane League. The Humane League advocates for farmed animal welfare - most farmed animals are kept in terrible conditions and suffer horribly. We host monthly meetups to take digital actions and have more events in the works.

THL Seattle is committed to maintaining an inclusive and accessible community. We support people of all races, genders, sexualities, class backgrounds, and abilities in doing activism. You don’t even have to be vegetarian or vegan to participate in our activism - in fact, non-vegan folks may even be better activists in some circumstances. We believe in cross-movement solidarity - the issues we face are intertwined with many other societal issues.
