IFS Café Initiation IFS study circle.

Dear IFS Café member,

This is to announce initiation of an IFS study circle. The focus of the group is technical study of the method and exposure to other people's questions. There is a substantial learning curve to proficiency with IFS and a group format is most efficient for knowledge transfer. Then, either in homework, exercises or individual sessions you can maintain your focus on your process.

Through consistent participation we will create a trustworthy circle of friends. Significant attention will be paid to the manner in which you conduct yourself as a support for the other person. We will necessarily address sensitive and difficult issues, and you must be, for others, the safe and competent person everyone needs.

In acknowledgement of peoples' over-scheduled lifestyles, I propose meeting twice a month with a fee of $25/month. There will be assigned readings, mostly from the book "Self Therapy"

As a member, you agree to participate in homework sessions with other members once per week. I will provide guidelines for the content of those sessions. I will conduct interviews with everyone to ensure you are ready for them. We will delve into ethical standards and harm reduction awareness as part of group material (that any such group would need to adopt.)

The pace and twice monthly format will allow you to miss occasional sessions with sufficient time to catch up. Sessions will be recorded and kept in the cloud for a short time. Confidentiality will be protected.

The event you are reading at this moment is free and I will repeat it multiple times per week on different days before I decide on the specific meeting time/day.

There is a group that meets weekly which you may join once you are proficient.

I am adding content on my blog with general psychology-oriented articles and videos, always with an eye toward relevance to the practice of IFS. I have many of these and will need to sort them into subject areas, so check back frequently.

I offer individual sessions for both instruction and practice. Since there's no way around the need for instruction during a work session until you're grounded in the method, my role includes managing that consideration. My fee is $80/hr. If the first session consists mostly of intake and logistics there's no charge.
