Winter is an ideal time to visit Venice an amazing location, with the chance of mists, fog and atmospheric weather and fewer people around, all adding to the mystery that is uniquely Venice. We will look at current photography themes and practice a series of mini photo projects around this beautiful city.

**ITINERARY**
• Saturday Day : Meet-up 10.30am Campo San Barnaba, **Dorsoduro**, Venice‘s artsy cultural district, for a series of themed photo projects. On our route through **Dorsodura** to **St Marks Square,** we’ll have a snack lunch in a Venice Osteria.
Saturday Evening : There will be a location themed photo project before having an evening meal together
• Sunday: **Cannaregio** to **Isola di San Michele, the cemetery island** only a short boat ride.

An itinerary will be sent to you before the Venice meet and co-ordinated on the Saturday with vaporetta timetables. Sunday is a full day so please plan return flights to UK for Monday.

**COST**
The fee is £140, with £60 deposit required to reserve your place and the final £80 due 4 weeks prior to Meetup. This is for the 3 workshops with two on the Saturday (midday and late afternoon) and all day Sunday. The sooner you book the better - **cheap flights to Venice are currently around £80 return!**

For anyone interested in extending their stay, either before or after we meet, there is literally a lifetime of things to see and visit in Venice. It is totally impossible to do everything in just a weekend.

**FOOD**
We'll be stopping for local Venetian food and coffee during the day and eating together on Saturday evening. Venetian winters are a good excuse for a cup of rich hot chocolate (*cioccolata calda*) with one of the many marvellous small cakes, pastries or Fritoe - a kind of donut. Then there are roast chestnuts from a street stand, a take-away glass of mulled wine (*vin brulé*). Also pasta tagliatelle with gorgonzola and pine nuts, Risotto al nero Seppia - cooked with cuttlefish ink, Risi e Bisi - risotto made from peas and pancetta, Pasta e fasioi - bean soup with pasta, Mozzarella in Carozza - fried mozarella sandwiches are a local speciality.

**EQUIPMENT**
Any camera
Any lens - 50mm is most practical but a Zoom 50-150mm+ is useful
Spare batteries and charger
Memory cards
Plug adapter
Weather appropriate clothing and footwear
A tripod is optional but useful for evening low light shots

**ACCOMMODATION**
We first meet-up near Museo Leonardo da Vinci, Campo San Barnaba 2771, Dorsoduro, Venice. Try Expedia or Airbnb for a place to stay. Expedia often has good combined deals for accommodation and travel. As with all travel, please be pickpocket aware. A money belt for valuables, passport, money etc is recommended, and so is as a secure bag for your camera. Do not bring unnecessary valuables with you
