**FLORENCE in Tuscany, Italy,** is a wonderful place to visit. Of interest to photographers is the Renaissance world of the **Camera Obscura, the re-invention of perspective and the Camera Lucida**, all pre photographic devise used by painters to create their masterpieces with photographic and perspective precision. **So where better to understand the origins of our photographic medium than in this truly beautiful city**.

Our photographers route through **Florence** takes us to places of wonder including **The Basilica of Santa Maria Novella** with its 16th century camera obscura meridians, **The Duomo / Santa Maria del Fiore, Florentine Baptistery and the Piazza Signoria in the medieval center of Firenze**. We can also visit one of Florence’s vibrant **Flea & Street Market** and/or catch a bus to the hilltop town of **Fiesole with its scenic views of Florence**.

In the evening we explore **the picturesque Arno River, and the Ponte Vecchio** \- finishing the day with a plate of **Italian specialities**, like Crostini neri, Crespelle alla Fiorentina - pasta with ricotta and spinach, Bistecca alla Fiorentina, Peposa alla Fiorentina, Fagiuoli, Piselli alla Fiorentina, and for dessert there is Zuccotto, Schiacciata alla Fiorentina. And Gelato! Finally, but not least, Florence is a wine paradise being close to Chianti, Montalcino and Montepulciano.

Photographers get as much help with their photography as required, on composition, photographic themes, and useful advice on getting strong images from your trip. You are advised to plan return flights back to the UK from Florence for Monday or later.

Weather appropriate clothing and footwear
A light tripod if you want to take low light evening shots
A money belt for passport, money etc is recommended, as is a secure bag for your camera. Do not bring unnecessary valuables with you

**Travel & Accomodation**
You are advised to locate yourself near the center of Florence or close to where we meet in Piazza Santo Spirito, Florence. We meet there on Saturday at 10.30am, and again for Saturday evening. Meet-up location for Sunday and a detailed schedule of times and locations will be sent nearer the day.
