What we’re about
Started in October 2009 mainly as a discussion group for science fiction and fantasy topics, this group has grown rather large and diverse over time!

We run a variety of different events. Our main events are:
* A monthly meet-up where members can catch up to talk all sci-fi/fantasy, gaming, book, tv, movie related topics
* Every few months we have a "Newbies" meetup, so new members have a chance to come along and meet other new members at the same time, but new members are welcome at all our meet-ups.
* Book review groups - run On alternate months
* Regular movie meet-ups when the latest movies come out.
Apart from this, we have also had boardgame days, gone to plays, had comic book days, organised groups to go to Supanova and other 'cons' as they occur.
Please note that if you're new to the group, you are welcome to attend any meet-up. If you have RSVP'd to a meet-up, but you can't turn up at the last moment, please change your RSVP to a NO.
Members can also make suggestions for meet-ups that they would like to go to.
In addition to this, we have two other 'group' pages. One on Goodreads (for the booklovers) which can be found here: https://www.goodreads...;
The other page is our facebook page. It's great for posts on your favourite shows, lists of books recommendations, previews of upcoming films, and even for some events (i.e. plays, exhibitions and activities) that we think will interest you, but we might not be able to host as a part of the meet-up. Please be considerate of the number of Facebook alerts that your post may create and some members may not always follow your fandom. The facebook page is located at: https://www.facebook....;
We also now have a discord channel (https://discord.gg/qKzSpxt) please join us there. First stop should be to read the guidelines and then enjoy discussing all sort of interesting topics.
We want to keep this page current and relevant for all members. If you haven't visited the Meet-up page in over a year, we may delete you from our group. However, you are most welcome to rejoin if something interests you.
I hope you can join us at an activity sometime soon!

The Master and Margarita by Mikhail Bulgakov | GoodreadsFor any new people that would like to come along, you are most welcome! You don't have to read all the books. However, the more you read, the more robust the conversation will be with multiple people discussing the book. Don't forget to bring along some Sci-fi, Fantasy and Urban Fantasy suggestions for the following meet-up!
If you would like to see all the books (excluding bonus books) that we have read before, click here to have a look. Since there are so many authors out there, we try not to repeat authors, however, I am relaxing this slightly moving forward. If you are new(ish) to the group, check out the back catalogue for some inspiration if you are stuck for something to read.
Numbers are limited. If you can’t make it, please change your RSVP to a NO as a courtesy to the organiser and to let any wait-listed people into the meet-up.
New for bookclub - I have added 30 minutes on to the end of bookclub, so people can stay back and have a social catch up. You are most welcome to leave at the end of the bookclub discussion/book selection process, but it was suggeted to me, that some people would enjoy the chance to catch up at the end as well. It worked really well in September!
Happy Reading!!! 🤓😊
