Hike Killiney Hill & Back Along The Metals into Dún Laoghaire
Details
Join us for a hike up Killiney Hill. We set out from Dalkey Dart Station past Colliemore Harbour, up the famous Cat's Ladder, and then onto the Obelisk and The Pyramid, boasting one of the best views you will find in Dublin. Great views of Dalkey Island, Bray Head and the Sugar Loaf.
From there, it's across to Dalkey Quarry, and then back into Dún Laoghaire along The Metals (an old tramway where horses used to draw granite from the quarry).
There will be an opportunity to forage some wild garlic (not the native species) along the way if you'd like to bring a bag and a scissors with you. It makes for great pesto :)
For those who want to stay around, we will head to McKenna's Pub for a drink. Vegan food is also available nearby in Milanos, Gourmet Food Parlour, Zero Zero Pizza, Forty Foot and Indian Vibe, for example. Or you can just head home and make pesto! Any issues, just send a message through the app.
Please arrive on time, as we may not be contactable out on the hike. Remember to bring water and stay hydrated too!
This hike is mostly on paved paths so runners should be okay, but parts can be muddy, especially around the quarry. It's not a difficult hike but here are some steep bits. It is the responsibility of individual members to keep the pace.
As always, please have the courtesy to change your RSVP and get in touch if you can't make it. All members to be treated with kindness and respect regardless of background.
Hopefully we'll get some more balmy November weather but the hike will go ahead anyway. Looking forward to seeing you all there!
