With three weeks to go, I am delighted to announce the next event of the Rambling Book Club - on the 30th November - when we'll be taking to Richmond Park!
As always, this is a collaborative, social and welcoming event for those of us that want to combine walking with discussing thought-provoking books.
This month's recommended reading is Man's Search for Meaning by Viktor Frankl, a 160 page fulfilling, modern classic which underscores 'the profound human capacity to find purpose even in the face of suffering.'
For those who wish to explore the themes in a tad more detail, Finding Meaning in the Existenial Void (a podcast episode) by Eckhart Tolle may be an interesting supplementary listen!
We will aim to meet at 13:00 outside the Tide Tables cafe in Richmond (for coffees etc.), before heading off from there at 13:30. We will walk along the river, then stroll up to Petersham Gate and into Richmond Park, where we will complete a loop, before finishing at the Roebuck pub.
Please prepare for a walk of approximately 10 km in total.
Feel free to post on the event page with any related additional reading or listening, and please don't hesitate to drop me a line via Meetup with any questions about the event!
Looking forward to seeing you soon,
Ollie
p.s. absolutely no need to have a philosophy or literature degree to attend these events! Simply read the book and show up ready for a good walk and a tonne of interesting, tangential conversations.
