What we’re about

In a society where nearly everyone have become netizens, i.e. where everyone is connected to the internet through our various devices, the result of this trend has actually been that we've become ever more disconnected from one another, and many of us thus lack genuine connections. In fact, national and global institutions are now starting to recognize loneliness as a serious epidemic (https://www.theguardian.com/global-development/2023/nov/16/who-declares-loneliness-a-global-public-health-concern).

The pandemic aggravated this trend, but it was definitely an ongoing phenomenon even prior to covid-19, and each of us netizens are simultaneously both the victim and also the contributors to this growing problem, as we often find ourselves doomscrolling through the rolodex of usernames, dwelling in the bubble of our patterns and sentiments, and all the while continuing to be deluded by the glamor of others' facade.

Thus this group is an attempt to address those shortcomings that we now face as society, and we will try doing this by setting aside our personae and pretenses, and thereby genuinely responding to the discussion prompts that will hopefully aid us in eliciting some earnest and heartfelt opinions about ourselves, about each other and about the world.
