Thanksgiving Forest Reservation
Details
The Thanksgiving Ground Forest is a 45-acre property in South Chelmsford adjacent to Great Brook Farm in Carlisle. The pond, forest and on one section a mass of boulders providing good habitat for wildlife. The area is named for the fox hunt that took place there each Thanksgiving.
We'll start our walk in Great Brook Farm and head northeast toward Indian Hill and into the Thanksgiving Ground Forest to explore the area and find the boulder formations. Total trail distance is about 4 miles with ocasional rocks and roots.
Ice cream stand is closed for the season, but you can bring warm beverage. Parking is seasonally $3 (247 North Rd, Carlisle; Not the parking lot off of Lowell Road).
Seasonally, there is a parking fee of $3 for the day. We start walking promptly at the event start time so plan accordingly.
