Welcome to The Real American Promise Meetup group, where we are committed to promoting positive and responsible political action. Our mission is to engage in meaningful discussions, raise awareness about important issues, and advocate for change. We strive to empower individuals to stand up against corrupt or harmful political practices and to make a difference in their communities. If you believe in saying NO to bad politics and are passionate about creating a better future for all, join us in our journey towards a more just and equitable society.
This is a place for democrats, republicans, independents, and libertarians to come together for the greater good. We will start by meeting monthly and divide into working groups. Chairs of each group will be selected by vote.
The main goals are as follows and are up for discussion:
-Nationalizing the Fed
The rich bankers do not have the right to control and make money off of interest and lending money. The revenue generated from this would help balance our deficit and set all of our citizens up for success.
-Personal control of tax money
Special interests have hijacked our tax dollars and our elected representative. We need to change the way our government is funded so that it reflects the will of the people. The best way to do this is for us to have a say where our tax dollars get spent. This includes ALL forms of taxes.
-Heavier emphasis on a referendum system
Our elected representative rarely keep their promises. They have no incentive to fix the issues that face our country. With having American people vote on more referendums we can speed up the changes that need to take place.
-Securing our voting(Imperative for a referendum system)
With moving to a referendum system, we need to restore people's confidence in election/voting results. This includes citizen auditors, paper ballots, and additional measures to ensure integrity in the results.
Overturning of Citizens United Vs. The Federal Election Commission
This ruling was the beginning of the downturn of our country and put far too much power in the hands of the wealthy. If this isn't changed our country will never be ours again.
-Expand beyond State's Rights
Unless something is passed by a 2/3 vote on a referendum, social issue decisions will expand beyond states rights to county and local control. While state's rights are important, they also are too expansive for the will of the people that are governed by those states.
-Education
Right now more than ever, Americans are divided on how their children should be educated. Schools are a place that different ideas can come together for the greater good of our future. School curriculum and classwork will be catered to the ideologies determined by the parent/guardians. Parents will have the ability to opt in or out of programs based on their beliefs. In upper grades there will be opportunities for students to have greater input in their own education.
The main theory behind our group is that you cannot change peoples' mind on hot-button issues. While we all feel strongly on them, we are being pitted against each other so that those in power can remain there. We seek to upend this bureaucracy for a better functioning system that reflects the will of people.
