Weekly Hike at Hidden Falls Regional Park in Auburn

Please note: No hike scheduled for Nov. 28th--Thanksgiving Day.
Hello fellow Walkin’ Boots people! This is a weekly intermediate-level hike of 4-6 miles on my home turf here in Auburn at my favorite trail system: Hidden Falls Regional Park.

General info about this weekly hike:
This will be a moderately-paced hike with 1 or 2 brief breaks to enjoy the scenery for an overall moderate degree of strenuous-ness, the goal being to get a good workout in a beautiful natural setting. Trails can be steep in places—usually for short stretches—and the last part of the hike back to the parking lot is always uphill for a mile and moderately steep, as the trail system is in a little canyon. Parts of the trail have lots of embedded rocks. There’s a fair amount of shade. Trails are well-marked and maintained, and shared with cyclists and equestrians. Dogs are welcome and must be kept on leash. Ticks are present and Lyme disease is endemic in Auburn. Cell reception is poor...see links below to download maps in advance. There is a wifi hotspot at the sign board near the bathrooms in the parking lot. Parking is free on non-holiday weekdays, no reservation required. See park website for "high usage date" weekdays requiring reservations.

Bring plenty of fluids and perhaps a snack, good all-terrain shoes, layered clothing including rain protection just in case, sun protection, hiking poles if you use them, first aid supplies, and don't forget that smile. :)

Meeting time is 10:00 AM in the HFRP parking lot at 7587 Mears Place in Auburn and we'll head out by 10:10. Apple's navigation app will misdirect you; Google Maps is accurate. If you’re coming from parts west, you could talk amongst yourselves and arrange to meet at 9:15 at the Sunsplash park and ride in Roseville and carpool from there. Due to poor cell reception, communication with me will not be possible after 9:00 AM the morning of the hike.
