- Beverly Canyon to Javelina Hike7822 S 46th St., Phoenix, AZ
-
- Description: Join us for a scenic hike along the Beverly Canyon, Ridgeline and Javelina Trails on the north side of South Mountain. From Beverly Canyon, we will loop back via the Ridgeline and Javelina Trails. This will be a fairly fast-pace nonsweep hike. If you hike at a slow to moderate speed, we usually wait for a bit after the first couple of hills, but if you are significantly slower then the rest of the group I would recommend turning around since we try to hike as a group. I hope to see you there!
- Distance: About 4 miles (about 2 hours). A moderate hike. There are a few 400' climbs during the first 2 miles.
- Please bring good walking shoes, a flashlight, and water.
- Leashed dogs are fine on this hike.
- This event is cross-posted with Take a Hike meetup @ https://meetu.ps/e/M5ptZ/zLFZ/i

- Apache Peak and Sage Gustafson Peak – New River from the Andy Kunasek TrailheadAndy Kunasek Trailhead, new river, AZ
Let’s hike these two summits in New River. Meet at the trailhead at 7:15am. It is about a 7-8 mile hike, depending on our descent route, gaining over 2,200’. These two summits have trails and a trailhead, but they aren’t commonly hiked given the location away from primary population centers. Apache Peak is a really cool pyramid-shaped summit.
Sage Gustafson was a young child who died in an unfortunate accident, and his family built a memorial for him on top of this previously unnamed mountain. I promised his grandmother I would check on the status of the memorial to confirm it is still in-tact, since the last time I visited here was in 2018.

About your organizer: My name is Dan. I moved to the Phoenix area in early 2017. I have organized over 200 hikes for various groups – including in Arizona, the Sierras, and Northern Nevada. I tend to choose mountain summits I have never done before. I do as much preparation and mapping as I can to ensure we take the correct trails. However, when driving to and hiking in a new area, there are always surprises and unknowns.Start time subject to change pending weather conditions.
