General guide:
https://youtu.be/XtQT8LSWfxEHow to wear a climbing harness:
https://youtu.be/v5WpeMStpf0Top rope climbing is the safest form of climbing (actually much safer than bouldering!) and I am sure you will enjoy it. We will not force you to climb etc... If you are scared of heights, don't worry. (I myself have pretty strong fear of height so I am with you!) Before you start climbing, you will learn how the system works, how safety is maintained and you can take baby steps. :)
For climbers who are already familiar with lead climbing and lead belaying, you can belay each other, find partner etc...
Backstory of the event:
Rocklands is owned by a group of climbers (my friends) who bought it from a previous owner as it was going out of business a few years ago. It’s a rare climber community owned gym and I (regular climber at the gym) want to help the gym by making it accessible to International climbers and hopefully creating a supportive gym community!Disclaimer:
Climbing is an inherently dangerous sports so please be careful when you are climbing! If you have any safety concern during the event, please let us know so that we can help resolve the issue.
