Details

Rope climbing session for climbers of all levels! (日本人の方ももちろん大歓迎です!英語喋れなくても、クライミング未経験でも全然大丈夫です!) No previous climbing/bouldering or rope climbing experience needed. Free except gym fees(Registration fee plus half day pass after 18:00 is 3300 ten). Starts at 18:30 and ends around 21:30 but you can come anytime and leave anytime. :)

When you arrive, please tell the gym staff that you are here for Tokyo Climbing Community Meetup event and ask them to take you to the group after registration.

If you are coming to Rocklands for the first time, you will get free rentals (shoes, harness, belay device etc...) so please ask the receptionist to provide you with appropriate shoes and harnesses.

If you are new to bouldering or rope climbing, don’t worry, we will help you get started from how to wear harness properly and let you know basic safety protocol.

If you are an experienced climber and wants to lead climb with new friends, we will have two rental ropes from the gyms you can use for free.

If you are new to rope climbing, and want to know what to expect, please take a look at the videos below: (You will be experiencing a "Top Rope Climbing", a most basic and safest form of climbing)

Top rope climbing is the safest form of climbing (actually much safer than bouldering!) and I am sure you will enjoy it. We will not force you to climb etc... If you are scared of heights, don't worry. (I myself have pretty strong fear of height so I am with you!) Before you start climbing, you will learn how the system works, how safety is maintained and you can take baby steps. :)

For climbers who are already familiar with lead climbing and lead belaying, you can belay each other, find partner etc...

Backstory of the event:
Rocklands is owned by a group of climbers (my friends) who bought it from a previous owner as it was going out of business a few years ago. It’s a rare climber community owned gym and I (regular climber at the gym) want to help the gym by making it accessible to International climbers and hopefully creating a supportive gym community!

Disclaimer:
Climbing is an inherently dangerous sports so please be careful when you are climbing! If you have any safety concern during the event, please let us know so that we can help resolve the issue.
