Monthly Drum Circle. Last Friday of the month. All experience levels welcome and needed!
6:00 -6:45 - introduction and review of basic Djembe technique. Guided practice in selected rhythm.
7:00 - 9:00 open drum circle

6:00 - 6:45 - Introduction to Djembe presented by Elaine. If you're new to playing the Djembe, would like to brush up on the basics or just want to come to support the newcomers join us at 6:00.
- I'll go over the basics of posture and how to play 3 sounds - base, tone, slap.
- Introduce 2 drum parts to the traditional West African rhythm Econ con
- Facilitate playing this rhythm in community
7:00 - 9:00 - Open drum circle
Bring:
- A chair (I find a chair without armrests or a stool is best for playing Djembe but bring what's most comfortable for you.
- a drum or other percussion instruments if you have them. (bell, shaker, wood block...)
If you don't have a drum and think this might interest you come check out the community drumming experience! I have a few instruments to share if you don't have one. Dancers, hoola-hoopers, jugglers, or just drum-curious ALL WELCOME!
No charge, but free-will donations are welcome. Donations will support my teaching, help with promotional and organizational fees, and with the purchase and upkeep of instruments to share. 50% of donations will go to a selected charity.
