HARRIS LAKE WEEKDAY WORKDAY (BASIC TRAIL MAINTENANCE)

Details

What:
Basic trail maintenance workday at Harris Lake.
We will be doing some basic trail maintenance... deberming and clearing drains.
**If you don't know what deberming is don't worry, come anyways, we
will teach you.
We will be splitting into groups to cover more trail in less time.
Who:
Everyone is welcome.
What to bring:
If you have a rogue hoe please bring it. (please mark it so we can tell it apart from the park's rogue hoes.)
If you have a backpack blower please feel free to bring it.
Blowers make clearing drains super quick and easy.
All other tools are provided.
Bring work gloves, water, snack if ya want, and bug spray if you want it. Water in your hydration pack works well for these workdays as we will be continually walking the trail and you can just leave it on your back.
What to wear:
Everyone MUST wear closed toe shoes/boots.
Where and when to meet:
We will meet at the park office. It is the first right after you enter the park.
We will meet at 9:45am for the sign in and safety brief before hitting the trails at 10:00am.
We will end no later than 1:00 pm but if you need to leave earlier you are welcome to leave when you need to. I just ask that you let me know so that I can assure that everyone has made it off the trail as I have to report this to the park office.
Volunteer release forms:
Everyone must please fill out the Harris Lake volunteer release form 1 time each calendar year. The link is below.
https://s3.us-west-1.amazonaws.com/wakegov.com.if-us-west-1/s3fs-public/documents/2020-11/HLCP%20Volunteer%20Service%20Release.pdf
Please fill it out and email it to [email protected]
If you cannot email it to him then please print it out and bring it with you. I will have extra forms available at the workday but please come early if you need to fill one out onsite.
Please fill out the online TORC waiver if you haven't already. This must also be done 1 time per calendar year.

HOW TO HELP TORC HELP YOU:
If you aren't a member of TORC please consider joining. Trails are not cheap to build or easy to maintain. So much goes on behind the scenes at all the trails. If you love trails please consider joining TORC to help support the work TORC does. You may join TORC at https://www.torc-nc.org/join-torc/
If you prefer not to join but would like to donate to TORC you may also do that at https://www.torc-nc.org/join-torc/
Scroll to the bottom and you will see how to donate directly to TORC.
