A class for the newcomers to contact improvisation that will teach them fundamental skills and dance jam know-how. Followed by a Dance Jam and social meetup.

Feel the thrill of balancing with a partner, Sensing, and moving in sync. It’s about real connection, real people, and presence. Come play, and explore in a consent-based community that celebrates movement and expression through the art of contact improvisation!

LOCATION:
Rafos Hall, 310 Danforth Avenue, Toronto.
DAY AND TIME:
Last Tuesday of each month (September to June)
6:15 pm to 7:15 pm - Contact Improvisation Fundamental skills
7:15 pm to 8:45 pm Contact Dance Jam, which follows the class.
You can also stay and just watch the jam if you are shy about dancing.
WHAT YOU WILL LEARN

Weight Sharing: Learn to trust and balance as you explore giving and receiving weight with ease and softness.
Dynamic Contact Points: Master the “rolling point of contact” to create fluid, continuous motion.
Dance Jam Essentials: Get comfortable with the guidelines and cues of dance jams so you can enter with confidence.
Expressive Exploration: Experiment with spontaneity, self-expression, and communication through the art of Contact Improvisation.
COST
Fundamental class is Free (runs the last Tuesday of each month September to June)
If you want to stay for dance jam after class the first month is a free trail and after that it is $40 a month.
The dance jam occurs weekly every Tuesday night.
