This hike is in North Chattanooga, between Chattanooga and Red Bank.

We will be meeting at the Spears Ave Trail Head. Plenty of parking. Take Spears Ave to the very top - it dead ends in the parking lot. There are restrooms there - and they are flush toilets!

We hill hike Hill City trail to Gig City trail to Double J. For a total of 3.7 miles. Or the reverse depending on which way pedestrians are traveling that day :D - We will modify this just a bit to include the overlook :D

Please remember, if possible to avoid cotton clothes, as they are not the best for hiking.

The hike is undulating or with PUDs (pointless up & downs). I personally take issue with the word pointless....but it is hiking lingo. There are no huge elevations gains or losses.

The trail is multi-use, meaning it is open to mountain bikers. However, the bikes go in the opposite direction, meaning they should not come up behind you.

Please remember to bring at least 2 liters of water along with snacks.

This hike will be dog friendly. Your dog must be friendly with people and other dogs. Your dog must be leashed - leash not longer than 6'. You must scoop your dog's poop.

I anticipate a 3-4 hour hike. Which means we will finish up right around lunch time :D Maybe Sluggos - vegan cuisine or Real Roots??

CONSEQUENCES OF A NO SHOW - To accommodate all, Trail Dames has a 3-strikes-you are-out policy for NO SHOWS. Please make sure your RSVP is accurate at least 24 hours prior to event start. If there is a same day emergency, reach out to the hike leaders, please.

All local laws regarding social distancing, group size, mask usage, and other COVID-19 issues must be followed and supersede anything Trail Dames might impose.  When carpooling, please respect the driver’s wishes regarding mask usage.  And as always, if you are ill or experiencing any flu-like symptoms, please do not attend Trail Dames events.
