Back in July 2020 we snuck into NT between lockdowns and had one of best walks ever. Yes there was appeal of being let loose after lockdowns (and going back into one) but it was awesome.

Rocky, wild, dry and remote, it is a very different type of walk than what we are normally used to. We will be visiting Mt Zeil which at 1,521m is the highest in the NT.
This season has the required better than average rainfall.
So.
Duration: Saturday 28nd June to Monday 14th July
15 days of walking.
Ignore the end date as Meetup is unable to process such extended trips.

The basic plan is over the 17 days is:
Start at Redbank Gorge. Place a food drop.
Commence walking out towards Mt Razorback then across the plain to Mt Zeil. Return via the Razorback and its canyons.
Probably 4 to 5 days for this section. Hoping not to be carrying too much water however the food drop will lighten the load.

Return to Redbank Gorge area (retrieve the food drop) then stay on the north side of the range to Bowman’s gap. Side trip to get a focaccia at Ormiston Gorge with a possible second food drop.

Then do the Chewings range west to east (reverse of previous) Spending an extra day at Ellery Creek and the Fish Hole. Coming out at Hugh Gorge.

Group Size: 3 is min. 6 is max.
We have transport options. We will have a vehicle(s) to do the pickup drop offs. Because of time/work commitments some may choose to fly.
We will work in with people to finalize the dates and other arrangements.

You **MUST** then send a personal message to the organiser to confirm that you are on the list. Failure to do so means that you will be removed from the list.
Also, you must provide detailed answers to the questions which was part of the post (additional info can be part of the personal message as per above) or you will be removed from the waiting list: You will have needed to have walked with myself, Bill or Penny before. The closest form of walking in Victoria to this, is off track walking in the Grampian Ranges. If you don't know why we are asking for detailed answers then this is not the walk for you.

Grade: Exploratory. This is for walkers experienced in remote area multi day off track walking only.
Approx 80% of our time spent on the walk will be off track, there will be sections of light scrub, lots of rock scrambling with packs, possible pack hauling, steep sections and walking through cliff lines. Participants need to be comfortable with all of the above and be a moderate to fast walker while doing so. Everyone needs to be able work closely as a group and pitch in, assist with route finding and take their turn on the front. Able to take care of themselves and others in the group and having a good sense of humour is essential.

Finish: Hugh Gorge
Location: West MacDonnell National Park
Costs: Transport/Flights, Stove fuel, NT National parks permit. All T.B.A.
Be prepared: Clothes for rough and rocky conditions including gloves.
