New Year's at Nesika Lodge

Details

UPDATE: A landslide has wiped out the Multnomah Creek Trail, the best access trail is Wahkeena Falls Trail to Multnomah Basin Road.

Come ring in the 2025 new year at Nesika Lodge! All welcome to share the warmth and comfort during the holiday. The lodge will be open from December 29th to January 2nd for day hikes, overnights, or staging for a weekend hike in the area.

Access: Those interested can hike in/out any time while the lodge is open (longer if trained to open/close the lodge). We will meet opposite Multnomah Lodge on Route 30 at 9:00 am December 29th. DO NOT LEAVE VALUBLES IN THE CAR IF PARKING OVERNIGHT. The trail up to the lodge from Multnomah Falls is moderate-difficult, roughly 4 hours in good condition. Warm clothes and micro spikes are necessary, snow shoes are strongly recommended for the unpredictable conditions. If Larch Mountain Rd and Palmer Mill are free of snow, folks can drive in to the lodge. If so, arrangements must be made to unlock the gate on entry/exit, and a chainsaw is required for fallen trees on the forest road. Please contact the host if visiting the lodge for the first time and need directions.

Food: All meals are pot luck during the long weekend, unless someone volunteers to plan meals. Cooking facilities include electric, gas, microwave and wood-fired stoves. All cookware and silverware is available at the lodge.

Sleep: Cots are available in the wood stove-heated dorm, bring a sleeping bag. Floor space is available in the lodge. Dorm or lodge spaces are $18 for adult members, $30 for adult guests.

Other amenities: A generator provides electricity for the lodge. A DVD player and games are available for entertainment. Potable cooking and drinking water is available, though flush toilets and showers are not during the winter. Cell reception is possible with most carriers. There are no garbage facilities in the winter, please expect to pack it out if you pack it in.
