Join Travel Buddies as we head off to explore Three Incredible East Canadian Cities and the Niagara Falls over New Year and in to 2025!
See in the New year on a boat party, taste the culinary delights on a gourmet food tour, visit the amazing Niagara falls and a local winery, visit a "Sugar Shack and learn about the process involved in the production of Canada's sweetest treat, Maple Syrup. Take in views of the CN Tower and immerse yourself in the winter spirit of CANADA.
Day 1. Saturday 28th December. UK - TORONTO
Meet at Heathrow airport and board our direct flight as we set off on our
New Years Vacation!
Upon arrival we will take our private transfer to Toronto Downtown where we will be staying for the following week. The Town Inn Suites Hotel is just 5 minutes walk from the subway station, with many restaurants nearby.
we will be sharing twin Suites (each room has 2 queen size beds) with en-suite bathrooms and breakfast is provided each morning. The rooms also have tea and coffee making facilities, a fridge and a microwave. If you wish to have a room to yourself the supplement for the 9 nights for either £350 or £430 (If you wish to have a Comfort suite with bathtub instead of a comfort room with shower in the second accommodation, you will need to opt for the higher supplement. Please note that there are only 5 of these rooms available).
As we will be arriving in the afternoon we will have chance to settle ourselves in before taking public transport to the entertainment district to enjoy dinner in the "Foodie Capital of Canada" From hole-in-the-wall joints with no phone to luxurious tasting menus, Toronto is a food lover's dream city.
Day 2. Sunday 29th December. TORONTO
Today we will take the short walk to the starting point for a full day using our hop on/off bus tour tickets. There are 22 destinations around the city and a running commentary telling us all about the different attractions in the city that we may like to visit. Some of the stops are as follows...
Royal Ontario Museum
A building that has to be seen to be believed. A fabulous fusion of post-modern might and industrial precision, this building is like stepping into a diamond. Once inside, you'll find a dazzling array of treasures, some cultural, many natural – bones of tyrannosaurus rex and woolly mammoth, meteorites and mega-sized minerals, and treasures of Canada's First Nation peoples.
CN Tower
Defining the Toronto skyline at 553.33m (1,815ft5in), the CN Tower is Canada’s most recognizable and celebrated icon. The CN Tower is an internationally renowned architectural triumph, an engineering Wonder of the Modern World, world-class entertainment and dining destination and a must see for anyone visiting Toronto.

Kensington Market
Kensington market. During the 1920s, it was known as the Jewish Market where you can sense the city's rich, multicultural mix, obvious in the shops packed with goods from Europe, the Caribbean, the Middle East, South America and Asia. A visit to Kensington is like a sensory trip around the world. It's also a treasure trove of vintage and second hand clothing shops, tucked in among eclectic restaurants and cafés. Kensington Market is not a stall market, but instead a neighbourhood of stores, restaurants, services and residents.
Street Art
Meander the back alleys along Queen Street West and see some of the city's best street art. It's like a free exhibit showcasing immense talent.
Grab a hot chocolate or gingerbread latte from the nearby Jimmy's Coffee (a Toronto fave located on Portland Avenue) to keep those fingers warm.
The Travel Buddies trips work on the basis that as long as you are having a good time then that is what matters, if you don't feel like coming on one of the excursions or joining the rest of the group for dinner one evening then that is absolutely fine. This is an adventure for everyone and there is nothing worse than having to go somewhere/do something that you don't really fancy!
Day 3. Monday 30th December. TORONTO - NIAGARA FALLS - TORONTO
After breakfast at the hotel we will board our coach for a full day trip to visit Niagara Falls and the town of Niagara on the lake.
Comprised of three waterfalls — American Falls, Horseshoe Falls and Bridal Veil Falls — Niagara Falls water stems from the upper Great Lakes and the river is estimated to be 12,000 years old. The wonder of the falls has intrigued many and has prompted daredevils to “conquer” the falls in various contraptions from wooden barrels to rubber balls.
Upon arrival we have free time to spend exploring the falls, Clifton Hill and table rock before a tour of the winery at Niagara on the lake and a wine tasting.
Our coach will drop us back to the hotel in the early evening when we can go out for a walk, bite to eat or relax.... whatever we fancy doing.
Day 4. Tuesday 31st December. TORONTO
Leisurely day or.... for those that would like to.... skate downtown with the skyscrapers towering over you and even under major overpasses.
The Brentway trail is transformed into a unique, 220-metre figure-8 skate trail running under the Gardiner Expressway overpass. The skates can be rented rented for $12.
Shop till you drop at The Eaton Centre on Yonge Street. A shoppers Paradise...
This evening we will enjoy our last dinner of 2024 and Bring in 2025 with a Boat Party on Jubilee Queen Cruises with music provided by Toronto's best DJs and views of the Toronto Skyline. HAPPY NEW YEAR !
Day 5. Wednesday 1st January. TORONTO
Free Day with the option to join for a delicious lazy lunch locally venue TBC. What better way to start the new year.
Day 6. Thursday 2nd January. TORONTO -MONTREAL
We are off to the second destination of our Canadian winter adventure today as after check out and taking our transfer to Union Station we will board the train to Montreal. Our journey will take around 5 and a half hours and the railway route provides amazing views as it goes along Lake Ontario coastline and through Canada's gem, the Charleston Lake Provincial Park.
Upon arrival in Montreal we will take our private transfer to our gorgeous Inn, The Auberge Bons Matins where we will be staying for the next 4 nights.
Auberge Les Bons Matins is a lovely inn with country charm which comprises of three large heritage houses, is situated in the heart of downtown Montreal with its skyscrapers and beautiful skyline. Do check it out, it is a beautifully decorated tiny place with only 17 rooms.
Nearby we will find the Bell Center, Crescent Street, the vibrant & trendy Griffin town neighborhood, the Museum District and not to be forgotten, the famous St. Catherine Street, the city's main shopping street.
Please note if you are paying the higher priced supplement your room will have a bath and if you are paying the lower supplement your room will have a shower. Breakfast is not included.
This evening we will head for dinner in this amazing foodie destination.
Day 7 Friday 3rd January. MONTREAL.
Lets begin exploring Montreal and it's history today with visits to the Notre Dame Basilica du Montreal (one of the most beautiful catholic basilicas in North America and the Pointe A Calliere Museum. (Entrance tickets Included) The museum shows how Montreal grew from an Iroquoian village into a missionary colony.
Natives frequented the site for at least 4,000 years before the French founded a town there in 1642. The colony continued to develop, becoming the gateway to the French colonies in North America, the fur trade, and later the first great Canadian metropolis.
Free afternoon to further explore as we choose.
Mount Royal
A magnificent urban green space featuring 200 hectares of astonishing biodiversity and natural beauty. Green, clean and refreshing, the mountain is home to a wide range of flora and fauna and is open to enjoy every day of the year, lets wrap up warm and enjoy a walk here.
Museum of fine Arts
Art dedicated to interior spaces, self-identity, and other reflective topics. All the art is presented in a visually appealing way that hits you hard and makes you forget the world and get lost inside them. The museum part holds artifacts and sculptures dating back to the Roman empire and other ancient dynasties.
Other must-visit museums and art galleries in Montreal are McCord Stewart Museum, Musee D'Art Contemporain De Montreal, and Imagine Van Gogh.
Pullman Wine Bar - If you are a wine lover.
Pullman, Montreal’s finest wine bar is one of the best places to visit in Montreal during winter because of its warm atmosphere. It boasts a collection of 400 wines. Apart from its wide variety of delicious tasting wines, the bar also offers a soothing atmosphere along with a menu serving a variety of cheese, chocolates, croutons, and other side dishes.
The best place to explore by foot is Rue St Paul the oldest (and most iconic) street in Montreal. This street has over 2,400 years of history – some of its cobblestones pre-date the entire United States!
Approximately one mile long, Rue Saint-Paul was first built in the 1670s and was the center of North American fur trade for decades.
Sugar Shacks are a very important part of an annual tradition in Canada. A sugar shack is a small wooden house built in the middle of the maple forest for making maple syrup. Please note that the harvest and high season are march and April but we will enjoy a small visit of the maple syrup production facility showing the equipment used and even get to learn how to play the traditional wooden spoons.
All you can eat served at your table family style traditional sugar shack feast, including Traditional pea soup, Fresh baked bread, Omelette soufflé, Lumberjack’s meat pie, Maple glazed ham and Old style mashed potatoes.

Day 8. Saturday 4th January. MONTREAL - QUEBEC
It's the third Canadian city that get's a visit today on a full day tour to Quebec, the historic heart of French Canada located on the St Lawrence River.
The oldest settlement in North America, this capital city’s charming narrow streets and quaint neighborhoods are steeped in fascinating history. See Notre Dame Basilica, the Parliament Building, Ile d'Orleans and the Plains of Abraham, where the famous battle between the French and English took place in 1759.
Then admire views of Montmorency Falls, an incredible waterfall and emblem of the city seated between the Montmorency River and the St Lawrence River. This magnificent natural gem is taller than Niagara Fall! There is a lunch stop during the day (not included)
Evening drop off back at our hotel.
Day 9 Sunday 5th January. MONTREAL
Late morning we embark on an exclusive Secret Food Tour. A journey through the vibrant Mile End district. We will Immerse ourselves in a culinary exploration strategically located at the crossroads of diverse cultures, allowing us to savour the city's finest culinary offerings. Delicious!
Free afternoon.
A final dinner locally.
Day 10. Monday 6th January. MONTREAL - UK
Today after we have checked out we have the day to explore further before we take our private transfer to the airport in the evening.
