What we’re about
A very warm welcome to our new members.
We are a friendly, non-for-profit group of people who love to socialize outdoors. Although we are primarily a walking group, we will also be organizing other social events - weekends away, camping, cycling, kayaking, etc.
All of our organizers volunteer their time to the group to facilitate a wide range of activities for the varying interests and abilities of our members.
We welcome your suggestions for events from members and if you would like to get involved hosting, organising walks or contribute to other activities please get in touch with us – we are happy to accommodate new ideas and an additional pair of legs!
WALK GUIDLINES & ETIQUETTE
Every member MUST add recognisable photo of themselves to their profile (!) – this is a mandatory security feature and helps when car sharing and meeting new members at events;
Organizers have to be able to contact you when a need arise – this feature can be activated in your Profile section- under Settings/Privacy/Who Can Contact You on Meetup = choose option ‘Organizers Only’, (unless you are happy with others contacting you too). Please note a default contact option is set to ‘No One ...’, therefore you will need to manually adjust it;
Walk number limits - Although we try to keep the walks open as much as we can, however, some of them may be limited due to the parking facilities available on the day;
All events on this page are created with detailed information on pace, duration, location, difficulty level and distance. Please familiarize yourselves with these details prior to attending each event. Know in advance where you are meeting and ensure you make it to the event in good time;
We come as a group and we leave as a group, therefore please keep with the pace of the specific walk set out by the Organizer. The duration and number of breaks will be determined by the Organizer. Ensure when walking you always have the walk leader in your view;
If you no longer plan to attend an event you signed up for, please cancel your RSVP in good time. Organizers reserve a right to deal with persistent 'no-shows' on a per-case basis;
Adequate equipment. All members must be adequately dressed and equipped according to the type of activity they are taking part in. They should also carry enough food and drink. Hillwalking/hiking in winter/on high ground may require special equipment as advised by the walk leader (e.g. poles, gaiters, axe, crampons, etc.);
Additionally, please read the Scottish Outdoor Access Code (https://www.outdooraccess-scotland.scot/practical-guide-all);
COVID -19 Requirements- adhering to the Scottish government guidance on Covid-19:
If you have any COVID-19 symptoms you must not attend the group walk;
Please ensure that you observe social distancing measures throughout the walk
Carry alcohol-based hand sanitiser with you, do not share your food, drink or equipment with others;
We ask you to provide your full name/ phone number to the walk organiser at the start of the walk. This will be added to the walk register for that walk and will be kept for 21 days in accordance with the Scottish Government's Test and Protect program;
Please Note: The Walk Register will only be shared with Test and Protect, if required. The Walk register will be destroyed 21 days after the walk
