Blue Christmas | Christmas on Maldives

Details

Relax...

Cool your face with moist, scented towel. Take a deep breath, look over the blue lagoon, and listen to the breeze rustling through the palm trees and a Christmas carol too! Lose the shoes and wriggle your toes in the sand or stroll on the powder soft beach in the warmth of the sun and dip into crystal clear water. Put away the mittens and the scarfs and get out the sun hat and bathing suit and dream of a white-sand Christmas in blue paradise!

Welcome to Maldives for Christmas!

One of the smallest and lowest lying countries in the world, the Maldives holds many curiosities. With sea levels rising and a maximum height of 2.4 meters, Maldives is not long for this world. Comprised of some 1200 islets and 26 coral atolls over 300 square kilometres, it’s smaller than Andora.

An atoll is a coral formation surrounding a circular lagoon with the larger ones dotted with smaller ring-shaped reefs, each surrounding its own sandy lagoon, sometimes called “faros” or “eye of Maldives”. Natural channels between the lagoons and open seas cut through each reef, creating a kaleidoscope of dazzling coral gardens filled with multi-coloured fish, sharks, turtles, and endless marine creatures.

If sun, sand, and sea are your idea of Christmas bliss, then Maldives will be your dream delight!

Day 1 // Sleigh Ride to the Maldives
Meeting at the airport at 06:00 AM for a direct flight from Sharjah at 08:00 AM. Arrival, immigration procedure, hop on your water-sleigh to hotel and check out your island home for the holidays.

Day 2 // Whale Shark Expedition
Today we will take on the ultimate experience - swimming with whale sharks! We will surely try spotting Manta Rays and various species of turtles too. If winds allow we’ll stop over at Dhigurah Island, the longest stretch of beach in the whole archipelago.

Day 3 // Leisure time to explore the island on feet
Optional: Picture Perfect Beach Resort
If you re keen to experience 5* beach resort for day, you can get back on the boat for a short ride to one of the famous resorts for a full day at the beach with water sports, shark feeding, buffet lunch. Return late afternoon for sunset from hotel balcony.

Day 4 // Vaavu Atoll
After beachside breakfast we’ll head to the Vaavu Atoll with few stops along the way in search of nurse sharks, dolphins, and sunken ships. After a quick lunch on the boat, we’ll head to hidden sandbar for that perfect Christmas-card photo on white sand and blue waves.

The Vaavu Atoll is located on the southern side of the Maldives. It’s the least densely populated of the country’s atolls, and its islands are inhabited by fishermen and boat builders. It’s comprised of the Felidhu Atoll and a second, smaller atoll known as the Vattaru Reef. As one of the Maldives’ least developed atolls the islands offer an authentic insight into traditional Maldivian life. When you’re walking along the white beaches you’re just as likely to see locals fishing or fixing the nets.

Abundant marine life is endless here. You'll drift along the reef’s edge with butterflyfish and oriental sweet lips that have a leopard-skin pattern on their fins. White-tip reef sharks, Napoleon wrasses and eagle rays will be hanging around too!

Day 5 // Merry Christmas
