Ouachita Mountains Camping Trip

Come and enjoy the breathtaking views of the some of the highest peaks in the Ouachita Mountains. The plan is to get there on Friday night, December 20th, before hiking Saturday on the Ouachita Trail up to Rich Mountain and through part of the Black Fork Wilderness. Sunday morning, we will explore Queen Wilhelmina State Park, which offers some fantastic vista views, before driving back to Tulsa. I was also thinking of taking the Talimena Scenic Byway back to Tulsa, which offers pull offs to numerous breathtaking vistas at the top of multiple peaks in the Ouachita Mountains. Trust me, it's well worth it if you've never driven it before. Also, we will sit around a camp fire both Friday and Saturday nights. I've provided links below to the cabins and hiking sites. Rich Mountain Cabins offer an array of options from single-bed cabins that are $45 per night and Amish four-person cabins for $90 per night. They also have a couple of RV spots for $22.50 per night and tent camping spots at $10 a night for those brave enough to battle the cold. It's also less than 3 hours away from Tulsa!
