let's get outside and take a l**eisurely exploratory** hike at Caumsett State Park Preserve reachable on LIRR for those without cars. We'll take a hike through the park for fitness, fresh air and camaraderie with friends, old and new. Let's make it an awesome day **😂🤪**

***(NOTE: I haven't hiked this trail before hence exploratory. So we will discover and explore it together. Come with an open mind for adventure and flexibility for whatever the day might bring)***

**About the Park:** Caumsett State Historic Park Preserve, situated on a scenic peninsula extending into Long Island Sound, offers miles of bridle paths, walking, jogging, hiking, biking, cross-country skiing and nature trails over acres of woodland, meadows, rock shoreline and salt marsh. The park has beautiful gardens, excellent fishing and scuba diving by permit.

**GETTING THERE:** For those without a car, we can get there by Long Island Railroad (LIRR) with a transfer at Huntington station then short Uber ride over to the park

**TRAIN SCHEDULE:**

* **If you are leaving from GRAND CENTRAL in Manhattan: T**ake the LIRR train leaving at 10:58AM, **TRANSFER** at Jamaica at 11:24AM and arrive at HUNTINGTON STATION at 12:18PM. ONE-WAY OFF-PEAK ticket is $13.00
* **If you are leaving from PENN STATION in Manhattan: T**ake the LIRR train leaving at 11:02AM, **TRANSFER** at Jamaica at 11:24AM and arrive at HUNTINGTON STATION at 12:18PM. ONE-WAY OFF-PEAK ticket is $13.00
* **If you are leaving from JAMAICA STATION in Queens:** Take the LIRR train leaving at 11:24AM arriving at Huntington Station at 12:18PM. ONE-WAY OFF-PEAK TICKET IS $9.50

**OUR AGENDA:** We will all arrive in Huntington Station by 12:18PM, we'll share a 20-min Uber ride to Caumsett.

**INTENSITY**: Easy to Moderate.

**PACE**: Hiking pace will be **LEISURELY AND NO ONE WILL BE LEFT BEHIND.** We will have lunch, water and snack breaks as needed; as well as taking time to savor the sights and sounds of nature, take photos, hug some trees, and most importantly, socialize with your fellow hikers. ***WE COME TOGETHER, WE HIKE TOGETHER AND WE FINISH HIKE TOGETHER. NO SPEED DEMONS!!!!***

**THE IMPORTANT STUFF:**

* Dress in non-cotton layers.
* Wear appropriate shoes suitable for hiking.
* Bring sunscreen, bug spray, head cover
* Bring at least 3 liters of liquid for yourself to stay hydrated

**WHO SHOULD COME:** Happy hikers with a sense of adventure and a positive attitude. A smile also goes a long way. Please leave the drama and crankiness at home. **In addition, SPEED DEMONS PLEASE STAY AWAY. There are plenty of other groups that cater to your need for speed.**

**DURATION**: We will be out for the entire day. If you have to ask what time we'd finish, please just stay home!!
