The interest shown for the Key Largo ride is huge, so we are going to do it. Weather permitting, we will leave on Sunday the 24th of November for a one night stay in Key Largo.

We will meet at the Cumberland Farms in Sebastian, at the Southwest corner of Highway 512 and Barber Street. Meet up time will be 7:00 A.M with KSU at 7:15. Vero Beach riders can meet us at Audrey's Feed & Tack at the intersection of Oslo Road and 66th Avenue at 7:30 to 7:45. We will no longer be on daylight savings time in November, so sunrise will be at 5:30 and sunset at 7:30.

The entire ride will be on country and rural roads, with no time on the interstate. The time in the saddle will be approximately 4.75 hours over a distance of 226 miles. We will make 2 or 3 stops along the way for fuel and a butt break (every 1.5 hours approximately).

When we get to South Florida, instead of taking U.S. 1 all the way into Key Largo, we will turn off on Card Sound Road and stop at Alabama Jacks for lunch. This turn off was highly recommended by Gary K and Bob M. Our stop for lunch should be at around 12:30. Card Sound Road is a toll road, $2 if you have a Sun Pass Transponder or $3 if your license plate gets scanned (no toll booth, all electronic).

We will be staying at the Holiday Inn located at the Marina, and will be given a group rate of $149 a night plus tax. The regular rate, with a cancellation option, is $220. The hotel has 3 places to eat on site, and there are other eateries very close by.

It is a 2 story hotel with no elevator, so I will be reserving first floor rooms. The Sales Director will be giving us a 72 hour cancellation policy, so we can cancel 3 days out if the weather is not acceptable for us to ride. Once the contract is in place, everyone can call, identify the contract number or our group name, and make their own reservation.

We will leave Key Largo between 8:00 and 9:00 on Monday and be back to our homes by 3:00.
