Q:What is Unity Initiative?
A: UI is an anti-racism/diversity organization that combines the principles of 12-step organizations with those of civil rights movements to create a united fellowship of diverse races, religions, cultures, etc. Meetings and individual participation started Oct 2nd, 2013 (Gandhi's birthday). We are neither a religious nor political group.

Our Vision: Unity Initiative wants to unite people of all diversities into a harmonious community to foster an environment for overcoming prejudice.

Q: Who might be a good candidate for joining UI?
A: Anyone who would like to help nurture social-diversity to heal themselves and our community from racism are welcome. You are someone who values all individuals and sees diversity as adding spice to life. Our anti-racism efforts focus on building a socially diverse community, education, group discussion and participation in anti-racism activities.

Q: Why would I or anyone else join UI?
A: There are two main reasons why someone may want join Unity Initiative; First, you recognize prejudice, bigotry and racism are still maladies that permeate our society to the detriment of present and future generations and you see hope in Unity Initiative's approach for helping resolve these problems and would like to be a part of the solution by becoming a social-diversity activist. Second, like most of us, you may be able to admit you too carry some form of prejudice and would like to overcome your own distortions through the steps, education and fellowship UI offers.

Q: What can members expect out of the group?
A: Unity Initiative events first and foremost, set up an environment where diverse relationships can be developed. We hold discussions concerning our own experiences with race and other forms of diversity. We discuss leaders who have made strides in these areas such as Gandhi and Dr. Martin Luther King. We may also read or discuss topics in the UI text.
