2024 Christmas Bird Count
Details
Imagine yourself on a crisp December morning, binoculars in hand, trading the hustle and bustle of the holiday season for a peaceful outing in nature. Sounds lovely, right? Then join us for the annual Christmas Bird Count, and be part of a 125-year-old tradition that unites bird lovers across the western hemisphere.
Whether you're a seasoned birder or a curious beginner, you can help us gather crucial data on bird populations while connecting with fellow nature enthusiasts. Valley Forge Audubon Society (VFAS) volunteers have been conducting a Christmas Bird Count every winter since 1984 at locations within a designated geographic area which is centered around Audubon, PA.
Teams of volunteers are assigned specific locations at which to survey birds. Beginning birders are welcome to take part and will be assigned to a team with experienced members. Because this census takes place during the holiday season and many people travel, we can be short of volunteers for the count. If you are in town and want to help, please contact Vince Smith (484-410-1157, [email protected]). It's a fantastic way to enjoy the outdoors and add a little bird magic to your holiday season.
